TalkSwitch Configuration Software for the United States and Canada


This software applies exclusively to TalkSwitch VSX and VS phone systems operating in the United States and Canada.

If you are running TalkSwitch Attendant Console software to manage and monitor your phone system, you must also install the update to Concero Console after installing TalkSwitch release 7.10.

New Features in Release 7.10


Support for new VSX platform: This is a required update to support the new VSX platform

Enhanced Phone Update Utility: The phone updater utility is now built into the TS Management software, and will support multiple phone updates simultaneously

Voicemail Broadcast: Voicemail Broadcast is now included as standard feature within the TalkSwitch product line

Increased system defaults: All TalkSwitch products will now have up to 16 Remote Extensions per unit by default, and 20 Auto Attendants available.



TalkSwitch Release 7.10 Download and Installation Instructions

Release 7.10 is a software and firmware update package for TalkSwitch VSX and VS phone systems operating in the United States and Canada. Instructions for updating both the software and the firmware are included below.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING SOFTWARE RELEASE 7.10


Please confirm that your computer meets the Recommended PC system specifications before proceeding.

Step 1: If you have an existing version of TalkSwitch software installed on your PC, launch your TalkSwitch software, and use File > Save to File to store your current TalkSwitch configuration file to a convenient location on your PC for future reference (if needed).

Step 2: Download Release 7.10 software. The download includes the software, firmware and documentation.

Step 3: Run the installer TSM710002_US.exe program. A Language Selection window will appear. Use the drop-down menu to select English, Espanol or Francais. All subsequent instructions will be displayed in your selected language, as will help documents and resource links. Click the OK button to proceed.



Step 4: If a previous version of the software is installed, a dialog will pop up and request to uninstall a previous version. Select YES to proceed. Though you have the option to retain older version(s) of TalkSwitch Configuration software, we recommend that you uninstall all previous versions.



Your saved configuration files are retained during any TalkSwitch software update.

Step 5: Select the region for installation of the software. This will install the correct user guide and help files on the local PC, click Next to proceed.


Step 6: A TalkSwitch Setup dialog will appear, describing compatibility criteria for this software. If your system meets the compatibility criteria, click Next to proceed.



Step 7: A window will display the software end-user license agreement.
Clicking I Agree will permit the installation to proceed.

Step 8: The next window will display software programs to be installed. All programs are recommended, though the window offers checkboxes to omit installation of non-essential programs. Click Next to proceed.



Step 9: A window will appear allowing you to specify the location on your PC to install the necessary software. The default location is recommended. Click the Install button to proceed.

The installation will proceed, with progress displayed throughout. A Java software update may be included to ensure your PC is compatible with TalkSwitch software. Within a few minutes the update process will complete.



Step 10: When all files have been loaded, you will be given the option to include shortcuts to the TalkSwitch software. Click Next to proceed.

A final window will confirm that the installation has completed successfully. Click the Finish button.



Note: If the installation did not succeed, close the installer, ensure that the PC is running a fully-updated, compatible version of Windows, then re-try the installation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING FIRMWARE TO RELEASE 7.10


In order to take advantage of new features, you need to update the firmware of all of your TalkSwitch units. This process will require that the system not be used for phone calls for between 3-10 minutes per unit. A completion dialog will notify when the process is complete.

Step 1: Ensure TalkSwitch is connected to the same LAN as your PC. (If necessary connect your PC directly to TalkSwitch using a LAN cable).

Step 2: Run TalkSwitch Management Software. The program will automatically detect connected TalkSwitch units.



Step 3: When software establishes a connection with the TalkSwitch unit, a window will pop up, informing you that new firmware is available. Click Update to proceed.



Step 4: A dialog describing the update process will appear. Click Yes to proceed. A second dialog will appear asking you to lock the system during the update. Click Force Lock to proceed.





Step 5: Prior to using the phone system we strongly recommend you optimize the audio performance of your telephone lines.

From the configuration software left menu select Telephone Lines, then click the Optimize Lines button in the Line Optimization field. An Optimize Lines window will appear. Click the Run Optimization button to proceed.



When the line optimization process is complete click the Close button to return to configuration of your TalkSwitch phone system.


Congratulations! Your TalkSwitch software and firmware updates are complete.




TALKSWITCH CONCERO CONSOLE 1.30


If you are running TalkSwitch Concero Console software to manage and monitor your phone system, you must now install the new Concero Console software. Concero Console is fully compatible with the expanded features and performance offered on TalkSwitch systems running TalkSwitch release 7.10.
Only install Concero Console 1.30 if your phone system is running TalkSwitch software 7.10 or higher.
Step 1: Select one of the following options:

To update the Concero Console Communications Manager (i.e. server), download the full Concero Console 1.30 software. This update is typically only done by the phone system administrator.

To update the Concero Console client, download the Concero Console Client 1.30 software.
This update should be done for each PC running Concero Console Client.

Step 2: Run the ConceroConsole_Only_1.30.001.exe or ConceroConsole_Full_Install_1.30.001.exe installer program. Follow the instructions provided by the installer program.3

Your TalkSwitch software, firmware and compatible Concero Console updates are now complete!




Recommended PC System Specifications


Ensure that this software is installed on a PC meeting the system specifications listed below. Installing this program on a PC that does not meet these specifications will cause this program to operate poorly and may slow the operation of other programs on your computer.
  • Fully updated Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000.
  • Updated Java Runtime Environment (version 6 update 23 or higher).
  • Processor: 1 GHz.
  • RAM: Windows 7 and Vista: 1 GB; Windows XP and 2000: 512 MB.
  • Disk Space: 250MB plus 140MB per TalkSwitch system memory card.
  • Screen Resolution: 1024x768.
There is currently no support for Mac OS or Linux operating systems.
There is no support for operating systems no longer supported by Microsoft, such as Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 95.



Updating from version 6.12 or earlier firmware and software

Updating your phone system to Release 7.10 firmware is a multiple-update process requiring that your system begins from Release 6.12.88 or later firmware (originally included in 6.12.089 software). If your system is running an earlier version of software than 6.12.089, click here to download 6.12.089 software (if needed), then use the software to update the TalkSwitch firmware to 6.12.88.

Once your TalkSwitch system is running 6.12.88 firmware (or higher), you can follow the steps to download and install Release 7.10.




TalkSwitch CA, CVA, 48-NLS and TalkSwitch 24 incompatibility

If you have TalkSwitch CA, CVA, 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24 units DO NOT use this software. The application of this update to TalkSwitch 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24 units invalidates any warranty and may result in phone system impairment.
