TS-450i and TS-550i Phone Firmware


Release 1.1.09sts is a free, recommended update for TalkSwitch TS-450i and TS-550i phones.

Firmware update using the Internet


Step 1: While not on a call, press the Configuration button on the upper left side of the phone base.

Step 2: Press 3 for Phone Settings, then 7 for Firmware Update.

Step 3: Press 2 to access the TFTP Server Address screen.
If the phone is not on the same LAN as your TalkSwitch system, record the IP address of the phone's TFTP server for later use (see Step 8).

Step 4: Use the (left arrow) softkey to clear the TFTP server address, then press the Mode softkey to select abc (character entry). Using the keypad enter tsphones.talkswitch.com (use the * key to enter each period). When complete, press OK.

Step 5: The phone will request a reboot. Select Yes. The phone will automatically download and install the newest firmware from the TalkSwitch website.

If the phone is on the same LAN as the TalkSwitch phone system, after the update the phone will automatically discover the TalkSwitch system, register and reboot. No additional steps are required.

If the phone is not on the same LAN as the TalkSwitch phone system, perform these additional steps:

Step 6: After the reboot has completed, press the Configuration button.

Step 7: Press 372 to return to the TFTP Server Address screen.

Step 8: Use the (left arrow) softkey to clear the TFTP server address. Enter the original TFTP server IP address you recorded in Step 3 (use the * key to enter each period). When complete, press OK.

After the reboot your phone will provide the best combination of features, performance and reliability.



Firmware update using the TalkSwitch Phone Updater program


TalkSwitch Phone Updater is a free software program that updates the firmware on programmable TalkSwitch phone models with efficient simplicity. This software is highly recommended for all TalkSwitch phone system administrators, and is the only update method recommended for phones on networks with no Internet access.

Step 1: Confirm which TalkSwitch software version your phone system is presently running (e.g. 6.12, 6.50, other).

Step 2: From a PC with Internet access, download the updater from: Phone Updater 1.21 for systems running TalkSwitch 6.50 or higher (login required).
TalkSwitch Phone Updater version 1.21 is only compatible with TalkSwitch version 6.50 or higher software.

Copy the downloaded program onto a PC located on the same LAN as the TalkSwitch phones requiring updates.

Step 3: Install the TalkSwitch Phone Updater program. Follow the instructions provided throughout the installation process.

Step 4: Run the TalkSwitch Phone Updater program. Follow the instructions provided by the program to update the firmware for each eligible TalkSwitch phone in your system.

After each updated phone completes its reboot, the phone will now operate with the best possible features, performance and reliability.
