Recording messages for TalkSwitch®
You can record your messages for auto attendants, voicemail and music on hold on your computer.
You will need an audio program that can create .wav files in 8-bit, 8000 Hz, mono or μ-law format.
You can access a free program, called Audacity, here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Once you have your program installed, and a microphone connected to your computer, you're ready
to start recording your greeting.
-
Click on Edit and then Preferences. You'll see this window pop up.

On the Audio I/O tab, change the Channels drop-down menu to Mono.
-
Click on the Quality tab. Change the Default Sample Rate to 8000 Hz. Change the Default
Sample Format to 16-bit. Leave the rest of the defaults and you should
have a screen that looks this:

-
Click on the File Formats tab. You'll see a drop-down menu that says
Uncompressed Export Format, click
on this and choose Other. You'll now see this screen:

Change the Header to WAV (Microsoft) and the Encoding to U-Law and then
click OK, and then click OK again to close the Audacity Preferences window.
Now you're ready to start recording!
Press the Record button when ready.

When you have finished, press the Stop button and you'll have something like this.

When you're happy with your recording, it's time to save it to work with TalkSwitch.
Click on File and choose Export As WAV. Choose the directory that you would like to
save the recording to and then press Save.
You've now got a recording that you can load into TalkSwitch.
