Which TalkSwitch system do I need?
Picking the right TalkSwitch system is easy. Just use the system builder above or
follow the steps below to find the system that matches your needs.
Step 1: How many extensions do you need?
Does each employee need a phone? Do you need other phones, such as a courtesy phone in your lobby? Add them up for the number of extensions you need.
Step 2: How many lines do you need?
A good starting point is one line for every two phone users. You may need more or fewer, based on how much you use the phone.
Your total number of lines is the maximum number of calls your system will handle at once.
If you expect to have lots of people on the phone at the same time, you'll need more lines. Law offices, for example, typically get a line for every phone user.
Step 3: Pick your system!
Once you know your line and extension needs, you just pick the system (or systems; you can combine up to four) that meets the total line and extension capacity you need.
TalkSwitch models are named after their capacities:
Combining up to four units adds the capacities up:
Lines: the first number is its capacity for traditional telephone lines. The last number is its capacity for VoIP lines.

Extensions: each TalkSwitch can have up to 16 extensions. The middle number shows how many can be analog extensions.
You can use all 16 for IP phones if you like, or you can use a mix of analog and IP phones.

All TalkSwitch systems have the same great features, so whether your system is the biggest or the smallest TalkSwitch, it will still help improve your image, control costs and keep you connected anywhere.
Examples:
An up-and-coming law firm has 14 busy lawyers, one receptionist and a lobby phone. These lawyers need a TalkSwitch 848vs. With its 8 phone lines and 8 VoIP lines, there's enough capacity for all 14 lawyers and the receptionist to be on the phone all day long, and that leaves an extra line for callers to go through to voicemail when their lawyers are busy. Everybody in this office can use IP phones, or up to 4 of them could use analog phones.
A funky architecture firm with the same number of employees might opt for a TalkSwitch 484vs. Since they're not on the phone as much, they only need a 1:2 lines to extensions ratio. They still get a mix of traditional phone lines and VoIP lines. And again, everyone can use IP phones, or up to 8 of them could use analog phones.
