TalkSwitch and Voice over IP
Voice over IP (VoIP) is simply a way to make telephone calls over the Internet. Instead of calling
over telephone lines, your VoIP calls go over your broadband Internet connection. It is a powerful
technology that provides benefits that can't be achieved with traditional telephone networks.
With a VoIP-equipped TalkSwitch you can connect to
VoIP service providers,
connect to
IP extensions anywhere and network between
multi-branch offices. TalkSwitch gives you the freedom to
choose how you stay connected and how
you migrate from traditional telephone lines to VoIP services.
VoIP Service Providers
Benefit from the competitive calling charges and flexibility of VoIP service. TalkSwitch has been
tested with select popular VoIP service providers' SIP trunk services to ensure easy set-up,
compatibility and support. SIP trunks are today's alternative to traditional ISDN.
It's easy to add additional VoIP lines and numbers without additional telephone lines. You can
even use non-local numbers for virtual presence, or 1300 and 1800 number services. Each number
can have its own call handling, so incoming calls are automatically routed to the correct greeting
messages or extensions. TalkSwitch also has the flexibility to support multiple calls per VoIP
line number.
Many VoIP service providers offer VoIP SIP trunking services over your existing broadband Internet
connection. For high-traffic applications and additional quality of service, some service
providers may offer service over their own managed access facilities (e.g. DSL).

Notes:
Use of VoIP services requires registration with a VoIP service provider. Each VoIP service provider offers its own
specific services, features and terms. Use of any TalkSwitch VoIP networking features requires broadband internet
access and a router with port forwarding. Routers with UPnP are recommended for ease of automatic setup. TalkSwitch
does not endorse, guarantee, or recommend any VoIP service provider. Inclusion in this list of VoIP service providers
indicates that the service provider's SIP trunking service has been tested and approved. Service providers may change
their service in whole or part without notice, and TalkSwitch may withdraw its listing of VoIP service providers
without notice or liability. SIP trunking interoperability is not necessarily restricted to listed service providers;
however, TalkSwitch only provides technical support for interoperability with its select partners. All VoIP-enabled
TalkSwitch systems support up to 4 VoIP service providers. TalkSwitch systems equipped for 8-port VoIP support up to 8
concurrent VoIP calls and 24 VoIP number registrations. TalkSwitch systems equipped for 4-port VoIP support
4 concurrent calls and 12 VoIP numbers.
Connect Anywhere IP Extensions
Extend your phone system beyond your office with connect anywhere extensions at home offices or with mobile workers.
IP phone extensions can be located anywhere with Internet access, and work as if in the office.
TalkSwitch keeps you connected.
Notes:
Use of any VoIP networking features requires broadband internet access and a router with port
forwarding. Routers with UPnP are recommended for ease of automatic set up. A fixed public IP
address is recommended for any TalkSwitch with external IP extensions.
Multi-Branch Networking
Does your business have branch offices? With VoIP, TalkSwitch systems can be networked together over the
Internet. Any extension on the TalkSwitch multi-branch network can dial directly to any other office
and its extensions, eliminating inter-office calling charges. You can even take calls at one office
and transfer them to another office.
In a TalkSwitch multi-branch VoIP network, one site is designated as the network's Registrar/Proxy site, usually with a public IP address. Other TalkSwitch sites register with the TalkSwitch registrar site to form a private VoIP multi-branch network. VoIP numbers can be assigned across the network, and handled like incoming calls at each TalkSwitch site.
Notes:
Use of any VoIP networking features requires broadband internet access, and a router with port forwarding.
Routers with UPnP are recommended for ease of automatic set up. A fixed public IP address is recommended for
the TalkSwitch registrar site in a multi-branch network.
