TalkSwitch Release 6.00 Download and Installation Instructions
Release 6.00 is an update for TalkSwitch VS, CVA and CA phone systems operating in the United States and Canada.
This software introduces a simpler yet more powerful multilingual configuration interface for your TalkSwitch system.
This update includes a new version of the TalkSwitch Configuration software bundled with new TalkSwitch firmware.
Note: All units need to be updated with the included firmware version to take advantage of new features.
Instructions for updating both the software and the firmware are included below.
WARNING: If you have TalkSwitch 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24 units DO NOT use this software.
The application of this update to TalkSwitch 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24 units, or to units in use outside the United
States and Canada, invalidates any warranty and may result in unrecoverable phone system impairment.
Installing TalkSwitch Configuration Software
Step 1: Confirm that your PC computer meets the Recommended PC system specifications.
If the PC does not meet the recommended specifications, use Release 5 software instead of this program.
Step 2: If you have an existing version of TalkSwitch software installed on your PC, launch your TalkSwitch software, and use File > Save to File
to store your current TalkSwitch configuration file to a convenient location on your PC for future reference (if needed).
Step 3: Confirm that your current version of TalkSwitch software is version 5.00, 4.10, 4.01, 4.00 or 3.24.033 (or later).
From the TalkSwitch software, go to About TalkSwitch window. Software Version will be displayed in the left-center area of the window.
If your system is equipped with 3.24.033 or later software, proceed to Step 4.
If you are using a TalkSwitch software version lower than 3.24.033 to configure a TalkSwitch VS or CA/CVA unit,
you will need to first upgrade to 3.24.033 software and update the unit firmware to 3.24.29 before installing 6.00:
Click here if your current software is earlier than version 3.24.33.
Step 4: Download Release 6.00 software. The download includes the software, firmware and documentation.
Step 5: Run the installer TSM600077_US.exe program.
A Language Selection Window will appear. Use the drop-down menu to select English, Espanol or Francais.
All subsequent instructions will be displayed in your selected language, as will Help documents and resource links.
Click the OK button to proceed.

Step 6: If a previous version of the software is installed, a dialog will pop-up and request to uninstall a previous version.
Select YES to proceed. (Though you have the option to retain older version(s) of TalkSwitch Configuration software, we strongly recommend that you uninstall all previous versions.)

Your saved configuration files are retained during any TalkSwitch software update.
If you are updating from Release 3.24, a confirmation dialog window will pop up to ensure that you want to uninstall this product.
Select YES. This will remove the older version of the software.

Step 7: The TalkSwitch Installation Wizard will appear. Click Next to proceed.

Step 8: In order for the installer to load all necessary software for your products, two dialog windows will appear. On the first window, select Next to proceed.
TalkSwitch 24-CA owners may use the checkbox option to reduce the size of the installation.

On the next window specify the location on your PC to install the necessary software.
The default location is recommended. Click the Install button to proceed.

Step 9: The installation will then proceed, with progress displayed throughout.
The installer will also check whether your PC has Java software required for TalkSwitch configuration software.
If a Java update is required, a window will appear to notify you. Click the OK button to proceed.

The update process may take several minutes.
During the update of USB software, a window will appear to request that you disconnect any USB cable plugged into TalkSwitch.
When there is no USB connection to TalkSwitch, click the OK button to proceed.

Step 10: When all files have been loaded, a final window will confirm that the installation has completed successfully.

Note: If the installation did not succeed, close the installer, ensure that the PC is running a fully-updated, compatible version of Windows, then re-try the installation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING TO TALKSWITCH FIRMWARE RELEASE 6.00
In order to take advantage of new features, you need to update the firmware of your TalkSwitch unit(s).
This process will require that the system not be used for phone calls for approximately 3-15 minutes.
Step 1: Ensure TalkSwitch is connected to the same LAN as your PC using a network cable, or connect your PC directly to TalkSwitch using a USB cable.
Step 2: Run TalkSwitch Configuration Software. The program should automatically detect any TalkSwitch units on the same network.

Note: If you are connected via USB, TalkSwitch software may load or update a USB driver on your PC.
If a "Found New Hardware Wizard" window appears, we recommend that you allow Windows Update to update your system with the latest driver software.
 
This process will install two USB drivers for TalkSwitch.
Step 3: When software establishes a connection with the TalkSwitch unit, a window will pop up, informing you there is new firmware available.
Click Update to proceed.

Step 4: A second window will appear with information about your firmware update options.
By default, the most recent available firmware for your region will be selected.
We recommend that you select the Auto-Reboot option, then click Update to proceed.

The software will retrieve your TalkSwitch configuration file and store a copy of it.
A new configuration file will be created, containing your previous settings, plus default settings for new features.
Progress will be displayed as each essential phone system file is updated.
Step 5: If you did not select Auto-Reboot, when the firmware update is complete a status window will appear.
Select one of the reboot options, then click the Reboot button to proceed.

Step 6: A dialog will appear with a timer while the system(s) reboot.

When the reboot is complete, your newly converted configuration file will be saved to your TalkSwitch units, and the configuration software will open.

Step 7: A quick calibration step is required to optimize the audio performance of your telephone lines before using the phone system.
From the configuration software select the Troubleshooting menu, select Telephone Lines, then Audio.
From the Telephone Lines - Audio window click on the Calibrate lines button, then click the Run Calibration button.
When a 'Test Complete' message is displayed, select Close, then OK to complete the exercise.

We recommend that you take the opportunity to check your configuration settings to ensure all settings meet your needs.
Congratulations! Your TalkSwitch software and firmware updates are complete.

Recommended PC System Specifications
Ensure that this software is installed on a PC meeting ALL of the system specifications listed below.
Installing this program on a PC that does not meet these specifications will cause this program to
operate poorly and may slow the operation of other programs on your computer.
- Fully updated version of Windows XP, Windows Vista
(32-bit) or Windows 2000. Windows XP recommended.
- Fully updated Java Runtime Environment (version 6 update 3 or higher)
- 1 GHz processor
- Windows Vista: 1 GB RAM; Windows XP: 512 MB RAM
- 220MB Hard Disk Space
- 1024x768 Screen Resolution
There is currently no formal support for Windows 2003 Server.
There is currently no support for Mac OS or Linux operating systems.
There is no support for operating systems no longer supported by Microsoft,
such as Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 95.
