TalkSwitch Release 5.00
Release 5.00 is an update for TalkSwitch VS and CA/CVA products that introduces powerful new features to expand and enhance your TalkSwitch system.
This release is intended only for use in the United States and Canada.
WARNING: This software must not be used, and is not supported, for TalkSwitch 48-NLS
or TalkSwitch 24 units. This software must not be used, and is not supported, in other
markets. The application of this software update to TalkSwitch 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24
units, or units in use outside the United States and Canada invalidates any warranty,
and may result in a situation where the product's original software may not be recoverable.
This update includes a new version of the TalkSwitch Configuration software bundled with new TalkSwitch firmware.
Note: All units need to be updated with firmware version to take advantage of new features.
Instructions for updating both the software and the firmware are included below.
Installing TalkSwitch Configuration Software
Step 1: From your present TalkSwitch software, use File > Save to File to store your current TalkSwitch configuration file to a convenient location on your PC, for future reference (if needed).
Step 2: Confirm that your present version of TalkSwitch software is 3.24.033 or later.
From the TalkSwitch software, go to About TalkSwitch window. Software Version will be displayed in the left-center area of the window. If your system is equipped with 3.24.033 or later software, you should proceed to Step 3.
If you have TalkSwitch CA/CVA and/or VS models, and are using a TalkSwitch software version number lower than 3.24.033, you will need to first upgrade to 3.24.033 software and update the unit firmware to 3.24.29 before installing 5.00: click here to download 3.24.033 software (only if needed).
If you are using a TalkSwitch 48-NLS or TalkSwitch 24 model, DO NOT INSTALL this software update (see warning above).
Step 3: Download Rel 5.00 software. The download includes the software, firmware and documentation.
Step 4: Run the installer TSC500072_US.exe program. If a previous version of the software is installed, a dialog will pop-up and request to uninstall a previous version. Click 'Yes'.

Note: Your saved configuration files will not be removed.
Step 5: If you are updating from Release 3.24 or earlier, a confirmation dialog window will pop-up to ensure that you want to uninstall this product.

Select 'Yes'. This will remove the older version of the software. Note: Your saved configuration files will not be removed.
Step 6: The TalkSwitch Installation Wizard will appear. Click 'Next' to proceed.

Step 7: In order for the installer to load all necessary software for your products, two dialog windows will appear. On the first window select Next to proceed. TalkSwitch 24-CA owners may use the checkbox option to reduce the size of the installation.

On the next window specify the location on your PC to install the necessary software. The default location is recommended.

Step 8: The installation will then proceed. A progress display window will appear. When all files have been loaded, a final window will confirm that the installation has completed successfully.

Note: If the installation did not succeed, close the installer, ensure that the PC is running a fully-updated, compatible version of Windows, then re-try the installation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING TO TALKSWITCH FIRMWARE REL 5.00
In order to take advantage of new features, you need to update the firmware of your TalkSwitch unit(s). This process will require that the system not be in use for approximately 3-15 minutes.
Step 1: Ensure TalkSwitch is connected to your PC or to the same LAN as your PC. Connection via Internet (IP) or Ethernet will result in the quickest update (for TalkSwitch 24-CA use USB).
Note: TalkSwitch software may load or update a USB driver on your PC. If a "Found New Hardware Wizard" window appears, we recommend that you allow Windows Update to update your system with the latest driver software.
 
This process will install two USB drivers for TalkSwitch.
Note: If at any point Windows displays a caution about Windows Logo compatibility, select "Continue Anyway" to complete the USB driver installation.
Step 2: Run the newly installed TalkSwitch Configuration software. When software establishes a connection with the TalkSwitch unit, a window will pop-up, informing you there is new firmware available. Click 'Update Now' to proceed with the update.

The configuration software will first retrieve your TalkSwitch configuration file and store it. During the update, your configuration file will be converted to be compatible with the new software and firmware while preserving your previous settings. The program will then update all required files with status information relayed at every step.

Step 3: Once complete, you will have the option to reboot the system now or if it's in use, to wait until all resources are locked down before the system reboots. Click 'Proceed' to continue.

An additional window will appear with information about the effect of rebooting a TalkSwitch system on IP phones. Select 'Yes' to continue.

A dialog will appear with a timer while the system(s) reboot.

When complete it will save the newly converted configuration file back to your TalkSwitch units, and open the new version of software. Please check your configuration settings to ensure all settings are correct.
