Expanding TalkSwitch

TalkSwitch systems allow you to choose a size that fits your needs today, then add more capacity when your company grows.

Up to 64 users per location

TalkSwitch covers up to 32 traditional phone lines, 32 VoIP trunks and 64 local extensions per location. With a modular architecture and intelligent networking capabilities, TalkSwitch flexibly fits a wide variety of office configurations and protects your investment as you grow.

Which TalkSwitch is for me?

To plan your ideal TalkSwitch system, figure out how many phone lines, extensions and VoIP trunks you need. Does each employee need a phone? Are there other phones required, such as a courtesy phone in your lobby? Add them up for the number of extensions you need.

Your total number of lines and VoIP trunks is the maximum number of simultaneous calls your system will handle. So if you expect to have lots of people on the phone at the same time, you'll need capacity for more lines or VoIP trunks than if you have very light call traffic.

TalkSwitch models are numbered according to their capacity:

The analog extensions can use analog or IP phones. Each TalkSwitch unit also has capacity for additional IP extensions that brings the total extension capacity to 16. So a TalkSwitch 484vs has 8 analog or IP extenstions and 8 pure IP extensions.

You can increase capacity any time by upgrading or networking units. Your options depend on the model (or models) of your existing TalkSwitch system.

Networking TalkSwitch

You can combine up to 4 units, adding up the lines, extensions and VoIP trunks:

The networked system also has all of the remote extensions and voicemail boxes of the individual units combined. New units added on the network automatically find your existing system and clone your established configuration settings. The networked units work as a single, unified system.

TalkSwitch plugs into your LAN with standard Ethernet cabling. TalkSwitch VS models can all be networked together, as long as they're all running the same version of the TalkSwitch software. VS units can also be networked with TalkSwitch 48-CA and 48-CVA units.

Upgrading TalkSwitch

Many TalkSwitch models can be upgraded to add capacity. TalkSwitch upgrades come in several capacities:

240plus: Adds 2 traditional lines and four extensions. The 240plus converts a TalkSwitch 240vs into a 480vs and a 244vs into a 484vs.

40plus: Adds 4 extensions. The 40plus converts a TalkSwitch 240vs to a 280vs, a 244vs to a 284vs or a 248vs to a 288vs.

4plus: Adds 4 VoIP trunks. The 4plus converts a TalkSwitch 240vs to a 244vs, a 280vs to a 284vs, a 480vs to a 484vs, or an 840vs to an 844vs.

8plus: Adds 8 VoIP trunks. The 8plus converts a TalkSwitch 240vs to a 248vs, a 280vs to a 288vs, a 480vs to a 488vs or an 840vs to an 848vs.

To upgrade a TalkSwitch unit, you remove the lid and add an upgrade board. It's a relatively simple operation, and the circuit boards come with easy instructions. Your TalkSwitch reseller can also install upgrades for you.
